AT A GLANCE

A Dutch startup redefined the civil construction inspection industry by building an app which ran on iPads and was used by building construction inspectors on site to log their inspection reports.

Challenges, not problems

A lean and highly efficient team and tech stack were needed, The app needed to handle the processing and display of very large PDF blueprints of buildings. Construction sites often have poor Internet data access, hence the app needed to work offline till explicitly asked to sync.

Solutions, not ideas

We built the app using hybrid development technologies, to allow a common codebase across iOS and Android. We set up the server-side code and a MySQL database on the AWS cloud, and implemented data syncing when triggered. The lean approach allowed for rapid spec changes and refocusing on business priorities.

Now that’s value

Changed the way construction is monitored and broke new ground in the time-to-report area, from the day the inspector does his rounds to the day the report reaches the construction team’s management.
